Описание:
There is a number of massive open-pit brown coal mines in the western part of the Czech Republic. In this video, I drive to a town called Kadaň, from which I take a bicycle ride around a massive quarry Nástup-Tušimice and take a close look at the coal-fired power station at Prunéřov.
The pit is so huge that many towns have been wiped out to make way for coal mining. Today, most of the area is being recultivated. The forests are being planted, and a large area is being used for cornfields.
