Chana Daal Halwa Recipe by Mom's Cooking Canvas
Recipe :
📌 Ingredients:
-Chana daal (Split Bengal gram) 2 Cups (soaked overnight)
-Doodh (Milk) 2 Cups
-Ghee (Clarified butter) ½ Cup
-Sugar 1 Cup or to taste
-Elaichi 3-4 pieces
-Saffron 4-5 Threads ( Optional)
-Pista (Pistachios) sliced 2 tbs
-Badam (Almonds) sliced 2 tbs
📙 Method:
-In a wok, add milk with water , mix well & bring it to boil,
Add Chana daal & cook on low flame until tender (12-15 minutes) then cook on high flame until it dries up.
-Let it cool.
-In a chopper, add boiled lentil & chop well.
-In a wok, add clarified butter & let it melt.
-Add lentil paste, mix well & cook on medium flame for 15-20 minutes
-Mix continuously & cook on low flame until it changes color (15-20 minutes).
-In a pan, Add sugar along with water , Add saffron mix well & cook on low flame until sugar melts (10-12 minutes).
-Mix melted sugar syrup with lentil paste , mix continuously or until it leaves the sides of the pot .
-0n a greased tray,lined with butter paper,add halwa mixture & spread evenly.
-Sprinkle pistachios & almonds, press gently & let it rest for 10 minutes.
-Cut into any shape.
Let it cool completely on room temperature & serve!
