In a speech on March 5, French President Emmanuel Macron declared that "Europe's future does not have to be decided in Washington or Moscow," and called for discussions on the expansion of the French nuclear umbrella to European allies. Frontline countries such as Poland have embraced opening this dialogue. Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has declared that Poland "must reach for the most modern possibilities, also related to nuclear weapons and modern unconventional weapons."
