TODAY'S GOSPEL: Mark 1:12-15
The Gospel of Mark reminds us that these 40 days of prayer and fasting is to prepare us for the renewal of our mission to live out the mystery of the Cross in our lives. As St. Ignatius of Loyola said, every time we get closer to living our mission and doing God’s will, the evil spirit will tempt and distract us, much like in the temptation of Christ. This is why we must be strong and steadfast in our will to become proclaimers and missionaries of the Kingdom of God by repenting and going back to our original relationship with God, and believing in the Gospel.
