While I can't recommend a specific lawyer I can give you things to look for as well as to avoid.

You want to look for a lawyer with both experience and knowledge. A lawyer who has successfully handled a number of domestic violence cases is probably more knowledgeable about this area of the law.

Former prosecutors may have a perspective from both sides that can be beneficial.

Above all you should talk to a prospective lawyer and use your instincts. Does this lawyer display knowledge about this area of the law; does he care, what are his or her reviews from others who use them.

Let me also give you some cautions. Unfortunately, some lawyers post what are called "vanity awards. These so-called awards typically say something like this lawyer has been nominated to the top 100 top 10 lawyers according to so-and-so's rating system. The problem is that these "awards are usually bought and paid for by the lawyer and, at least in my view, it's like a guy who pays a hooker to tell him that she's the best he ever had. Just don't trust a lawyer who's trying to deceive you. Don't hire a lawyer to don't trust.
