Sherpao

Sherpao is located about 39-40 km from Peshawar and 11-12 km from Charsadda in the south. These are very beautiful and fertile areas. It is said that the village of Sherpao was founded in his name by Afghan Muhammad Zai, whose real name was Sher Khan and it is also said that Sher Khan had three more brothers and when the property was divided between them, each brother got their own share of which Sher Khan got a fourth i.e. ((pau)) share means Sher Khan got a pau share, that's why he became known as Sherpao and the name of this area also became Sherpao.

At one time, a nation called Bahak Khan also lived here and it is said that the original founder of Sherpao also lived here with his people. Sherpao's descendants include Sulaimanzai, Yaqubzai, Manduzai, Babu Khel, Musa Khel, Yusuf Khel etc. Who lived in Sherpao. Small villages are named after them in Sherpao.

And this is the same area in which the Sherpao family is based and the famous personalities of this family include Khan Bahadur Khan, Ghulam Hyder Khan, Hayat Muhammad Khan Sherpao and Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao. The Sherpao are a sub-group of the Muhammadzai (Charsada) tribe. As their name suggests, they are found in Sherpao village of Hashtnagar area of ​​Charsadda district in Pakistan. Sherpao, the common ancestor of the subgroup, was the grandson of Muhammad, the common ancestor of the Muhammad Zai clan. According to Captain Hastings in 1878, Sherpao had only one highland settlement called Dakai, as their other lands had been lost to the surrounding tribes.
