We put motor doping to the test first-hand.
We race the carbon Super Record equipped Bianchi Oltre XR4 against the aluminium Ultegra equipped Goat Race on one of London's steepest inclines – Swain's Lane.
The Goat Race is a British-made e-bike designed with the Austrian-made concealed Vivax-Assist motor – the same system used in several recent cases of amateur and international motor doping. It weighs 10.2kg but has a concealed motor which can give over 100 watts of assistance.
The Bianchi, by contrast, comes in at 6.8kgs with aerodynamic tube shaping and stiff deep section Metron wheels.
Which is quicker, and how much difference does a hidden motor make? We find out.
