Heroes of Might and Magic 2 Speedrun - Pyramid - Impossible [

Pyramid is quite a daunting map to take on, as there are 3 separate players allied against you, each one significantly stronger than the last. The warlock player in particular starts off with 4 towns, tons of gold and sulphur mines, and green towers built in their two side towns.

I tried quite a few different approaches to this map, first trying to take advantage of all the demon caves and ample resources to rush power units of my own. In a perfect situation you can get phoenixes extremely early on this map due to the close proximity of gems and mercury to your start, but due to the starting power of the opponents this didn't give enough of a leg up to rush them down.

Then I tried dismantling the players one by one, as the castles are close enough that you can movement reset by recruiting heroes to sweep a lot of them in one go, then using the mage guilds that the necromancer starts with and all your spare gold you can pick off their heroes with cheeky quick retreats exploiting the low speed of early necromancer units. This is quick in game, but painfully slow real time, not to mention fiddly and inconsistent.

I finally settled on charging straight up the right side with as many goblins as I could grab and just rushing one of the warlock castles to use their dragons for myself. In my earlier attempts I would take out the necromancer castle on the way, then use more recruit chaining to bolster my forces even further. However I found I could skip it entirely and take it out with the dragons later to save some time as well as make the transition to taking out the warlocks a little more consistent.

Leaving all the conquering for when I had dragons really sped things up as I could utilise its flying and breath attack to speed through the castle battles as fast as possible losing as little time as I could to the long catapult and tower animations.
