IVUS plays an important role for treating calcified lesion. Degree and length of calcification may be detected by IVUS. Therefore, various option of plaque modification strategies ranging from balloon dilatation to atherectomy device can be selected based on IVUS findings.
Here, Vu Hoang Vu, MD presented a two vessel disease case presented with NSTE ACS. First, he decided to treat the culprit lesion which thrombus was seen angiographically, and decided to stage the calcific LAD lesion during the hospitalization guided by IVUS.
