In this video I talk about a coping sequence to help you manage crisis situations when you're triggered.

Manage the moment of crisis sequence:
1) Triage – “Is this an imminently life threatening situation?” Degree of urgency to wounds to decide the order of treatment.
2) Manage cortisol & adrenaline – Use relaxation, mindfulness, exercise, adaptive/healthy coping
3) Trigger or emotional button – Is the wound connected to a past hurt bringing up emotions or something irritating (per peeve)?
4) Can you control it? – Can you control the situation, person, or instance?
5) Acceptance – Can you accept your degree of control?
6) Reassess – Evaluate your thinking, feeling, and perspective.
This is like any skills. The more you practice the better you’ll get and the easier it’ll be to use when you really need it. When those emotional buttons are pressed.
