1980年60型として登場。40系以来の構成から脱却、ステーションワゴン風の車体にフロントの独立フェンダーを廃止したデザインが採用され、クロームメッキバンパーやバックドアに上下開きタイプが追加されたり、ドアミラーの採用やハイルーフ仕様の設定、サイドステップやオーバーフェンダーの設定など、時代に合わせた装備の追加、変更が数多く行われた。

1987年、マイナーチェンジが行われ、ヘッドランプを角型4灯に変更、インストゥルメントパネルの変更と同時にオーディオスペースを2DIN化した、ワゴン4000VX（FJ62G）が登場、3列目に折りたたみ格納式シートを採用した8人乗りの最上級グレードであった。

搭載される電子制御燃料噴射化された水冷直列6気筒OHVエンジンは、3955ccの排気量から、最高出力155ps(114kW)/4200rpm、最大トルク29.5kg・m(289N・m)/2600rpmを発揮した。

当車両はオリジナルの状態をカスタマイズした物である。

★About the Toyota Land Cruiser 60 Wagon VX (FJ62G Modified)
Introduced as the 60 model in 1980. Breaking away from the 40-series configuration, the car adopted a station wagon-like design that eliminated the independent front fenders. Numerous changes and additions were made to suit the times, including chrome-plated bumpers, a vertically opening tailgate, door mirrors, a high roof, side steps, and overfenders.

In 1987, a minor change was made, changing the headlights to a square quad, revising the instrument panel, and introducing a 2-DIN audio space. The Wagon 4000VX (FJ62G) was introduced, a top-of-the-line eight-passenger model with a foldable third-row seat.

The mounted electronically fuel-injected, water-cooled, in-line 6-cylinder OHV engine had a displacement of 3955cc and produced a maximum power output of 155ps (114kW) at 4200 rpm and a maximum torque of 29.5kg-m (289N-m) at 2600 rpm.
