August 29th marks 20 years since Hurricane Katrina made landfall on the Gulf Coast, damaging levees resulting in major flooding and chaos.
We’ve learned a lot about flood management in the last 20 years, but there’s still A LOT to be improved. Recent concerted efforts to roll back federal funding for natural hazards like floods and even to eliminate FEMA altogether will put communities in danger.
