Our walking tour begins at the top of the cliffs with panoramic views of the Algarve coastline, overlooking both São Rafael Beach and a pair of secluded coves with the lovely Sardinha restaurant perched above them. The trail down to the beach is steep and rocky — especially in flip flops, but the BIG REWARD at the bottom is absolutely worth it!

After carefully descending, we pass the small car park with limited spaces (arrive early!) and local stalls offering souvenirs, beachwear, and even kayak and cliff-jumping tours.

Once on the sand, you’re greeted by the bustling Rafael Beach Bar, which offers spectacular views and a refreshing break from the heat. One end of the beach reveals hidden caves and rocks, perfect for exploring or swimming to the next cove. On the other end, you can rent kayaks, paddleboards, or just relax on a sunbed with an umbrella right on the shoreline.

We finish our tour at the restaurant terrace, soaking in the views with a well-earned drink in hand. Whether you’re into adventure, relaxation, or just love discovering Portugal’s natural beauty, São Rafael Beach is a must-visit in Albufeira this summer.
