Enjoy my rendition of Tchaikovsky's violin Concerto in D major. One of the most iconic pieces of violin repertoire, this vibrant and passionate piece was actually born out of a dark period in Tchaikovsky's life. After the end of a rocky marriage, Tchaikovsky travelled to Clarens, Switzerland to recover.
Inspired by Edouard Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole, and the way it championed 'musical beauty' above all else, Tchaikovsky began work on his monumental masterpiece - the violin concerto.
A piece of as large a scale as this one is of course a lifetime project - I've merely scratched the surface of it, and I look forward to adding more depth, colour and polish to my interpretation!
This piece holds a special place in my heart, and I hope you enjoy!
