Step-by-step process for making orange wine from orange fruit.
Note: I am not a professional winemaker. I hold no responsibility if the results of your winemaking causes injury or ill health. This is as natural (where possible) winemaking channel. The wines made on this channel do not use sulfites. You may use them and\or yeast nutrients and or energizers if that is how you prefer to make your wine\mead.
Ingredients:
4 pounds Navel Oranges
2 Lemons
Handful of Raisins
2 1/2 Cups Sugar
1 Gallon Water
1 Packet of Yeast
1 Campton Tablet
Preparation
1. Zest oranges and lemons
2. Juice oranges and lemons
3. Rough chop raisins
4. Place zest and raisins into straining bag
5. Warm up water and dissolve sugar
6. Let water come to room temperature
7. Place everything into a fermentation vessel
8. Allow to ferment for 2 weeks then rack into a carboy and let it continue to ferment for 3 - 6 months or more.
Note: This is as natural (as possible) winemaking channel. The wines made on this channel do not use sulfites. You may use them and\or yeast nutrients if that is how you prefer to make your wine\mead.
During the first 3 days give your musk a good stir, and to break up the fruit cap that will form if you are not using straining bags. After 5-7 days Rack into secondary, and continue to rack every 4-6 weeks until clear. Degas, back sweeten, bottle let age for at least 12 month total.
