With approximately 90 lakh Indian citizens in Gulf nations and thousands in Iran, the Ministry of External Affairs issued multiple advisories urging Indians to avoid non-essential travel and leave Iran. Two Indian mariners have been lost in attacks on merchant ships. The conflict threatens India's energy security, disrupts trade worth 200 billion US dollars annually, and has halted normal life across the region.
