Cast of Breaking Bad discusses the impact series had on their careers

Even for "Breaking Bad" cast members who don't appear in the new feature-film spin-off  'El Camino: A 'Breaking Bad' Movie," creator Vince Gilligan's original series is a gift that keeps on giving.
That goes especially for "El Camino" lead Aaron Paul, who the show catapulted from an unknown to stardom.
At the recent "El Camino" premiere in Los Angeles, Paul also said working with Gilligan and headliner Bryan Cranston made him a significantly better actor over course of the series' five-season run.
"You can see it," Paul explained. "Yeah, I mean it's just because Vince gave me the opportunity to sort of spread my wings and you're telling such an incredible story, well thought out story. So, everything just felt honest and genuine. So, as an actor, everything felt that much more real. And so that was it. And also working opposite Bryan was a pretty great acting class."
Added Gilligan, "Yes, he (Paul) did improve. But he was tremendously awesome to begin with, from that first episode on. I didn't think there was any room for improvement. And, yet, somehow he magically got even better still."
Even veteran actors, such as Giancarlo Esposito and Jonathan Banks, who were well established before getting the "Breaking" gigs, say their games was improved by working on the show.
Actor Matt Jones' career as a character actor was on the rise when he joined "Breaking Bad" as a guest actor in season one (as the Aaron Paul character's on-again/off-again pal Badger Mayhew).
For eight seasons, he's been a regular on the Anna Faris sitcom "Mom." But Jones says "Breaking Bad" remains a calling card.
"This show has changed my life so much because since I got the job, I haven't stopped working at all," he explained. "It's only gotten bigger and bigger and bigger for me and a lot of the people told me, like, you know, I have to do my own work, but I got legitimized by the show. You just say (the name of) this show and I get to get in any room anywhere because I was a part of this thing. I am just so lucky because of that."
"El Camino" is out now on Netflix and in select theaters.
