In recent decades there have been several archaeological developments in Egypt that could force us to re-evaluate our understanding not only of Egyptology, but of world history generally. This talk will look at several of these developments, concluding with a first-person account (along with photographs) of a major discovery that took place on the Giza Plateau in 1997. What was the legendary “Tomb of Osiris” located deep in the Giza Plateau, and why is it so important for our understanding of Plateau, and why is it so important for our understanding of ancient Egypt? We will explore some possible answers to these and other questions.
