On October 25, 2025, the National Academy of Social Insurance gathered for the 2025 Robert M. Ball Award, honoring two extraordinary former Social Security Commissioners, Martin O’Malley and Michael Astrue, for their leadership, integrity, and partnership in strengthening the nation’s most popular social insurance program.
In partnership with the Frances Perkins Center, we also introduced the Frances Perkins Next Generation Award, which recognizes three emerging leaders and alumni of the Academy’s internship program—Zane Snyder Cox, Johntrell Bowles, and Taylor Carty—who embody Perkins’ enduring spirit of courage, imagination, and justice.
