(I have also heard this tune accompany other hymns, as 'You, Lord, Are Both Lamb And Shepherd' and 'Lo, He Comes With Clouds Descending') The words are from the Liturgy of St. James, dating from the 5th Century and translated by Gerard Moultrie (originally titled: Σιγησάτω πᾶσα σάρξ βροτεία )

Noel Nouvelet is a French traditional carol often translated as 'Sing We Now Of Christmas'. I love it's Dorian key!
