Authorities in Nwoya District have petitioned the central government, seeking a lasting solution to the recurrent invasion by wild animals from Murchison Falls National Park. Led by the Nwoya Resident District Commissioner, Christopher Omara, they say the recurrent invasions by stray animals—especially elephants and buffaloes—have not only caused the deaths of people and destruction of property, but also left the area in utter poverty. They presented their concerns to the State Minister for Northern Uganda, Kenneth Omona, who revealed that a substantive budget has been allocated to fence all the national parks in the country.
