Hello Beautiful People! Welcome back to our garden studio! The other day my friend Nate Bright used a small sink strainer to create a really gorgeous piece he titled 'Nautilus'.

Pouring Medium:
Mix Pour
There is NO Silicone
in Any of My Paint.


I am using Mix Pour as my pouring medium. You can order Mix by emailing Krista at [email protected].

Nate used a split cup from PaintPourStore.com to pour a ring pour into a sink strainer, and he had his canvas on a spinner. I am using a split cup, but I am not using my spinner. I am going to tilt instead.

I fill my split cup about 3/4 of the way, and then put my strainer into a puddle of gold. I add more Gold around the corners and edges, to give the paint something to slide on.

I pour a ring pour into the strainer, and it fills up rather quickly. I stop pouring for a minute to let the paint start to drain out.. and decide to rotate my canvas before pouring more.

I pour the rest of the cup like this, pausing and rotating a couple more times.
When most of the paint is gone, I lift the strainer off the canvas.
I add more flow extender around the pour and then tilt.

I love what's happening with the colors, where they have blended and stretched, very beautiful to me.

I love the lines from the strainer.. the contrasting pyrole orange against the Winsor Violet is really gorgeous!

Yesterday I saw my lovely friend Fiona from Fiona Art use a motorized spinner from PaintPourStore.com to do a strainer pour, also inspired by Nate's Nautilus pour.. She did a great job and created a gorgeous piece! You can find her video here:    • (925) FOSSIL ~ Using MOTORIZED canvas spin...
