'I can actually post about this now. This has been a mental couple of months. But the headline is: I accidentally bought my own stolen car back... long story short, I decided to buy something as close to my stolen one as possible. Sure enough, I found one for sale. Same colour, same year, same custom exhaust system. Plates, vin numbers, and mileage are all different. Looked legit online, registered with the DVLA, etc.

But I started to notice some odd things when I got it home. I noticed a tent peg and some Christmas tree pines in the boot. I noticed the locking wheel nut was in a Tesco sandwich bag. I noticed some wrappers in the central storage section. All oddly similar to my stolen car. So, looking for something more conclusive, I check the Satnav history. Sure enough, my address, my partners parents' address, my parents' address. It dawned on me at this point that my phone immediately connected without pairing. My phones is in the Bluetooth device history, my partners phone, and all our old phones.

Take it to the local Honda garage, and I forgot about the physical key. I tried that, and it worked. Honda plug it into a laptop, find the original vin number on the ECU, sure enough, mine. Along with the gearbox serial number, which was on their system.
