Paneer Thecha is a spicy and flavourful Maharashtrian dish where grilled or pan-fried paneer is served with thecha—a fiery chutney made with green chilies, garlic, and peanuts. Here’s a simple recipe for you:
Ingredients:
For the Thecha:
• Green chilies (adjust spice level)
• 6-7 garlic cloves
• 2 tbsp peanuts
• 1 tbsp of olive oil
• Salt to taste
• Chaat Masala
• 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves (optional)
• Lemon Juice
Instructions:
Step 1: Make the Thecha
1. Heat oil in a pan.
2. Add green chilies, garlic, and peanuts. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until slightly charred.
3. Turn off the heat, let it cool slightly, and grind coarsely with salt and lemon juice. Add coriander leaves if using. Set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Paneer
1. Coat paneer pieces with this spice mix.
2. Heat oil in a pan and grill the paneer until golden brown on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).
Step 3: Serve
• Spread the spicy thecha over the grilled paneer or serve on the side.
• Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with roti, paratha, or dal-rice.
