Intercultural Collaboration: Engaging Distant Students in Virtual Exchange - IVEC 2021 Presentation

Описание: This is a recording of a workshop presented at the 2021 International Virtual Exchange Conference.

The goal of this workshop is to introduce, demonstrate, and describe the considerations, benefits, and challenges of using specific technologies when designing a virtual exchange (VE) experience. Attendees will learn how to use simple online tools to foster discussion, engage participants, and build accessible communication opportunities for all participants regardless of geographic location or technical hurdles. Presenters will demonstrate specific tools, introduce alternate platforms, and offer guidance for selection and implementation.

The NextGen Coders Network (NGCN) is a STEM-intensive, project-based learning experience with a focus on intercultural collaboration. Bringing together participants from Iraq, Kuwait, the Palestinian Territories, and the United States, intercultural teams collaborate on a coding project to contribute solutions to a grand challenge, such as food insecurity, public health, etc. This session will describe the technology that engages students in our VE and will demonstrate how these tools can be incorporated into any VE experience.
