Princess Mary and her daughter Princess Josephine were the picture of equestrian chic as the attended the annual Hubertus Hunt at The Woodland Park Dyrehaven in Klampenborg, Denmark. The royals marked the occasion on the official Danish royal Instagram page.
Sharing photos of the two women from the event, along with some white horses. The Australian-born sported beige checkered trousers accompanied by two puffer jackets, cream gloves and a blue hat. Josephine wore a matching jacket, paired with denim jeans and a green scarf.
While her mother's hair cascaded over her shoulders, the 12-year-old tied her locks back into a smart pony-tail. "🍂 We are ready for an autumn day in the woods and the annual Hubertus hunt er🍁," the caption read.
The event has been occurring since 1900 as a continuation of a 17th century practice which saw riders chase a fox through the Dyrehaven, which was once reserved for royalty. The park is 1,100 hectares and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Fans were delighted at the glimpse into the Danish family.
"A beautiful photo of you both😍😍," one penned in the comments. "Beautiful mother and daughter 😍🤎🍂," another added. "You look so lovely ❤️❤️," a third wrote. Josephine was born at Rigshospitalet, the Copenhagen University Hospital, in Copenhagen, at 10:56 am local time, 26 minutes after her twin brother.
The Princess's name was announced as Josephine Sophia Ivalo Mathilda. Her third name, Ivalo, is Greenlandic. It stems from the Qaanaaq region where her father patrolled with the Sirius Dog Sled Patrol and means "sinew".
She is the fourth and youngest child of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, and the seventh grandchild of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and the late Prince Henrik. She is the twin sister of Prince Vincent. Josephine is fifth in line to the Danish throne, after her father and older siblings, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, and her elder twin brother.
Her godparents are her paternal aunt, Princess Marie of Denmark; her maternal aunt, Patricia Bailey; as well as her parents' friends Prince Carlo, Duke of Castro, Count Bendt Wedell, Birgitte Handwerk and Josephine Rechner.
On 3 August 2014, during the family's official visit to Greenland, Josephine, her parents and siblings, took part in a tree planting in Qaqortoq's new poplar grove, Ivalos og Miniks Poppellund, named after Josephine and her brother who are known by their Greenlandic middle names in Greenland.
