Hawaii Beach Volleyball stuns top ranked UCLA on opening day

Описание: First-year head coach Danny Alvarez and the 16th-ranked University of Hawaiʻi beach volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a statement victory Thursday at Queen’s Beach, knocking off top-ranked UCLA 3-2 on the opening day of the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic.

The Rainbow Wahine sealed the upset when the pair of Kristen Serrano and Keira Cornman delivered the deciding point in the dual. The win highlighted a split day for the BeachBows, who earlier fell 3-2 to sixth-ranked Texas.

Hawaiʻi finished the opening day 1-1, but the victory over the nation’s top-ranked team provided a strong start for Alvarez in his debut season at the helm.

The three-day tournament continues Friday, with the Rainbow Wahine scheduled to face USC and Stanford.
