Selene is the personification of the Moon in Greek Mythology. She was represented as a young and beautiful woman who traveled the Sky in a silver carriage pulled by a yoke of white oxen or a pair of horses. She was often portrayed riding a horse or a bull, wearing robes, wearing a half moon over her head and carrying a torch.
Some practitioners of Modern Paganism see Selene as the Mother aspect (Full Moon) of the Triple Goddess, with Artemis being the Maiden, and Hecate the Crone.
