This Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG) and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) workshop is the first in a series of two educational workshops on system stability with increasing penetrations of inverter-based resources (IBRs). This first workshop focuses on the interconnection of new IBRs into weak grids - exports of power from weak pockets of the grid, equipment capabilities, models, planning processes, control interactions and mitigation options. The second workshop will examine planning for systemwide issues of high penetrations of IBRs including low inertia grids, frequency response and small signal oscillatory behavior.
