We spent 3 days exploring one of the most incredible islands we had the chance to stop by.
Makatea's story and history is just totally outstanding. Unique and incredible!
It is not easy to get to, as there aren't any good protection and only 4 moorings on its west side.
But within positive conditions of winds and surge, this is a must stop.
There are information available online, youtube and elsewhere. Recently Makatea has become more famous with climbers due to its incredible rock formation, completely different from the other Atolls in the Tuamotu.

There are so much to do in Makatea:
Cave snorkelink (or even diving...), scuba diving directly on the reef, lots of climbing of course, but hiking explorations as well.
And of course, the tour of the island organized by Julien the Major!
