With local government elections looming, the public rift between DA leader John Steenhuisen and former federal finance chairperson Dion George risks denting the party’s image. Former DA leader Tony Leon warns that internal disputes could undermine the DA at a critical moment, saying the party is currently seen as a credible alternative. “If it becomes consumed by internal conflict, it will lose its primary focus, convincing voters that it is the best alternative,” Leon said.
