Описание:
A description of the North Wales Coalfield is preceded by a visit to the Gresford spoil heap which provides excellent views to the North and West of Wrexham.
Then we go back to when the Gresford shafts, the Dennis and Martin were first sunk and an early indication of how the mine owners would pay little regard to safety when the sinking of the shafts was accelerated to avoid the necessity of building a second airway for ventilation, as required by law.
There’s also an attempt to quantify the depth of the shafts to give some inclination of how deep they went!
