Welcome to Colombia!

This time I was in different places in Bogotá looking for the best restaurants in the city. On this tour I found Casa Santa Clara, Prudencia, Casa Lelyte, Tramonti and La Fragata. When you come to Bogotá you will have a first class gastronomic experience in these restaurants.

Casa Santa Clara is a restaurant with typical Colombian food and is located in Monserrate, at 3,200 meters above sea level. Here I tried Colombian arepas; ajiaco, which is a typical Bogotá soup; lulada, which is a delicious drink made from a tropical fruit; and merengón, which is a typical Bogotá dessert.

Prudencia is a restaurant that is in the historic center of Bogotá. They have several spaces where they cook and all are open, they use organic ingredients and create their own equipment, including an amazing three level grill. They offer a predetermined menu of seven courses that changes every month and each customer goes at his own pace. They have a dining room and a small garden.

Casa Lelyte is a boutique hotel and vegan restaurant located 20 minutes from the city center. The food is impressive and the place is very nice, there you will find unique flavors that, probably, you have never tried. I tried the Gyozas Mulatas, two Asian empanadas with mushrooms and ginger, and two with activated charcoal, beetroot, and eggplant; the arracacha, kale and yucca croquettes, stuffed with cheese and served with tomato and cardamom chutney; the watermelon strip to the firewood, watermelon stuffed with ricotta, accompanied by cilantro pesto, red wine reduction, nasturtium leaves and yucca ñoquis; and the Cubios (tuber) and Blackberry Cheesecake.

Tramonti is an Italian food restaurant located north of Bogotá. It is inspired by the architecture of northern Italian houses and has a spectacular view of the city. Here I tried the bruschetta with salmon, avocado and capers, the Sea Fruit Spaghetti and the Limoncello Cream. Everything is delicious and when you go you cannot stop ordering one of their pizzas, they are one of the best in Bogotá.

La Fragata Giratorio is a seafood restaurant located north of the city. It is on a 12th floor and is one of the first turning restaurants in Colombia. In an hour and a half it makes a complete turn and has an incredible view of Bogotá. Here I tried the Maracuyá Ceviche, the octopus with yucca and the lobster prepared at the table, impressive!
