Kaimana Hila - Slack Key with Led Kaapana

Описание: Charles King's song about hanging with friends around Waikiki is one of the first hula my sweetheart learned, and I recall figuring out a basic slack key arrangement after listening to the song quite a few times (grin).

"Kaimana Hila" is a transliteration of "Diamond Head," the English name for the volcanic cone that looms over the southern end of O`ahu. King's song tells of the surf, the parks, the racetrack, the hotels of the area even at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. All that is still there and multiplied, except for the racetrack which is only a faint path in Kapiolani Park.

We were across the island from Kaimana Hila when Led and I got together for a jam, on the windward side Kailua on the shores of Ka`elepulu or Enchanted Lake as it is known today. We plugged our Martin guitars into the Zoom H6 but I also rigged the XY mic module and a windscreen. I was pleased to discover that I didn't need to use the pickup tracks, the mic recording was clean and sweet so that's what you're hearing in this clip.

Both guitars are tuned to taropatch G, spelled D G D G B D from low pitch to high.

The cameras are a pair of Panasonic Lumix GH4s and all editing was done in Edius.
