Salamanca puede presumir de tener una de las ciudades viejas más bonitas y mejor conservadas de España y en esto no hay discusión.

En el corazón de la ciudad se encuentra la plaza Mayor. Construida en el sXVIII en estilo barroco es el punto de encuentro habitual de sus habitantes y ya estáis viendo que no es necesario mencionar su belleza y armonía.

Desde la plaza mayor iremos dando un paseo hasta la zona de las catedrales en cuyo camino nos toparemos con la La Clerecía, construida en el s XVII. Junto a la clerecía encontramos este edificio del sXV. Un casa llena de conchas llamada casualmente La casa de los conchas. Sigo mi paseo por la ciudad hasta llegar a las catedrales y sí habéis oído bien he dicho catedrales en plural porque Salamanca tiene dos, la vieja construida en el s XIII en estilo Románico-Gótico y la nueva del sXVII en estilo barroco.

Junto a las catedrales se encuentran los edificios históricos universitarios donde destacan el claustro de las escuelas menores y sobre todo la fachada de las escuelas mayores, un lienzo del sXV de estilo Plateresco dedicado a los Reyes Católicos.

Salamanca can be proud of having one the most beautiful and best preserved old towns in Spain and there is no discussion about that. The heart of the city is the Plaza Mayor (main square). Built in the Baroque style in 17th century, it's the usual meeting point of its inhabitants and you're already seeing that we don’t need to mention
its beauty and harmony.

From the Plaza Mayor, we walk to the Cathedrals’ area. On the way, we find La Clerecía, built in the 17th century. Right next to it's this 15th century building. A house full of shells coincidentally called The House of the Shells (La Casa de las Conchas).

I continue my walk through the city up to the cathedrals and yes, you heard it right, I said cathedrals in plural because Salamanca has two: the old one built in the 13rd century in Romanesque-Gothic style and the new one from 17th century in Baroque style.

Close to the cathedrals are the historic buildings of the University,which include the cloister of the Escuelas Menores and especially the facade of the Escuelas Mayores. A 15th century Plateresque canvas dedicated to the Catholic Monarchs.
