WOODSTOCK, GA (January 30, 2026) — Woodstock Mayor Michael Caldwell delivered his 2026 State of the City
Address Friday morning celebrating historic progress and outlining an ambitious vision for Woodstock’s future.
Speaking to city leaders, partners, and residents, the Mayor declared the state of the city “stronger, safer, and
better off than it was four years ago,” while reaffirming the city’s guiding mission: “We are building a city that
feels like home.”
Key Highlights from the Address:
Record Infrastructure Investment: Woodstock is undergoing its largest infrastructure expansion in
history, with more than $50 million in public projects and $210 million in private construction. Major
initiatives include the Ridgewalk Parkway Diverging Diamond Interchange, Neese Road overhaul, and a
comprehensive transportation plan funded by the new T-SPLOST.
Economic Growth & Downtown Development: The city now generates 40% of Cherokee County’s GDP on
just 3% of its land. Downtown enhancements include the Mill District project and a landmark six-story
hotel, and continued expansion of office, retail, and restaurant spaces.
Public Safety Leadership: Woodstock achieved full police staffing for the first time in a decade and
expanded the fire department with two new stations.
Parks & Quality of Life: Construction of Little River Park, the largest park investment in over a century, is
on track for completion by year-end. Woodstock also continues to expand its trail network and host the
South’s largest free concert series, reinforcing its reputation as a vibrant, family-friendly community.
Mayor Caldwell emphasized that these investments are not just for today but for generations to come saying, “We
will dream boldly, build intentionally, and play well. We will meet our calling, and we will build a home.”
