This video shows how to replace a timing belt of Subaru Legacy GT (EJ20 engine).
You can do it at your garage without special tools. But if you have one, yes, much easier.

Basically, when you replace a timing belt, replace four pulleys, water pump and thermostat together. If any oil leaking from cam seal or somewhere else, also you should replace it/them.
I wouldn't show Timing belt kit sets, because lots of different type of water pump. so please choose carefully it suit to your car.
