Fly High Suzaku, Mosaic on wood, 50cm x 70cm.
Inspired by the anime Fushigi Yuugi, my latest artwork is a mosaic version of a phoenix rising above the sky from its ashes. Phoenix is a meaningful mythical creature for me as like the nature of this vermillion bird, I have emerged from the ashes of my broken hopes and dreams many times in my life. I used the opening theme of Fushigi Yuugi and the voice clip of Miyaka’s summoning Suzaku because just like Miyaka’s journey to complete the Suzaku’s seven and calling the guardian of the south, the process of making this mosaic was not easy, yet it was a fruit of hard work, sweat, blood and love. I hope you enjoy would watching the making of this masterpiece as I enjoyed doing it.
