Afroman Defends the First Amendment From the Police - Civil Trial

On August, 21, 2022 members of the Adams County Sheriff's Office raided the home of famous rapper, Afroman (‪@ogafroman‬) with a search warrant for allegations of kidnapping and felony drug possession.

During the raid, the police damaged the front gate of Afroman's property, kicked in his front door, disabled his security cameras, and "mishandled" about $400 of Afroman's money. No charges were ever filed against Afroman.

After the raid, Afroman created a number of songs including "Will you help me repair my door" and others that lampooned the Deputy Sheriffs that participated in the raid on his home. These songs became part of an album and Afroman made a bit of money off of these songs which helped repair the damage to his home.

The deputies then sued Afroman for multiple torts including defamation and false light publicity, claiming to have suffered damages in terms of death threats and tarnished image in the community.
