Welcome back to Château de La Croix Boisée! Simon and I are revealing our ambitious plans to completely reimagine our entrance hall — the heart of our home and the first impression for every guest who walks through the door. After discovering an extraordinary 2-metre antique mirror (thank you to our gorgeous friends Terry & Ash from Escape to the Dream, Restoring the Chateau @chateaudelalacelle), we realised this space deserves something truly spectacular. From removing dated tongue-and-groove panelling to potentially opening up walls and rethinking the ceiling and the staircase, we’re considering a dramatic transformation! Will it be too much?
But that’s not all…
Upstairs, our Regency-inspired “Bridgerton” bedroom — our chatelains’ suite — is nearing completion. Soon we’ll take you behind the scenes to show how we used a laser cutter to create custom stencils for hand-painted panels, plus today show you the exquisite 18th-century engravings by Jean-Baptiste Huët that will add to our finishing touches.
Then we’re off to Paris during Maison et Objet and Deco Off to source exceptional wallpapers and fabrics from houses like Mind the Gap, Zuber, Iksel, Pierre Frey, and more — searching for the perfect balance of classical elegance and modern craftsmanship.
This is just the beginning of our 2026 chateau renovation projects… and we’d love your thoughts.

ABOUT US:
Bonjour! I’m Vivienne, an artist, designer, antique & vintage jewelry dealer, and also the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful husband, Simon, our daughter, and —whenever possible— lovely friends and family.

This is not our first chateau! 25 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, after 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and —of course— antiques and art!

We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!
