Keith Ballard teaches mariachi, steel drum band and African drum ensemble at Southwest Middle School and Launch Virtual Academy just 4 miles north of the U.S. - Mexico international border. Students in his program have performed for countless celebrities, two U.S. Presidents and have appeared in over 80 local media and 5 nationally syndicated TV shows. His passion for teaching has inspired professional mariachi and musicians across California as well as educators around the country. His recent book "Stealing From The World's Best Schools" and TEDx Talk outlines solutions for the future of education in the United States.
