Here is a video demonstration of a bead Nipkow disk. This is a Nipkow disk where the apertures are replaced by small acrylic optical quality balls.
Notable aspects are this televisor uses just one Ultra Bright 5mm LED (40000mcd) and yet is clearly visible in room daylight.
It is extremely difficult to video this type of monitor - in particular it is impossible to focus on the image itself - in this case I focused on the back of the driving motor and then panned across to the image.
The flashing of the image is, of course, due to videoing at 25 fps where the televisor runs at 12.5 fps.
Note also that the LED driver I was using for this test was anything but optimal so contrast is relatively poor.
