In its heyday, Golden Truly department store was a cut above the rest and considered one of the more prestigious supermarkets in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. But that was all during the 1980s - 1990s. Unfortunately, the establishment that first opened its doors in 1981 had to close down in 2020.
The building of the last Golden Truly Department Store is called Golden Truly Mall or Mal Golden Truly in Indonesian. Unfortunately, after its anchor went out of business, the rest of the tenants have been slowly making their exit as well.
For the sake of nostalgia, I went to the dying shopping center, to see the place where a younger version of me stood in awe before the talking cash register machine.
