Описание: Having trouble with the Windows Update service on Windows 10 or Windows 11, and encountering the error "Windows could not start the Windows Update service on the local computer"? You're in luck! In this video, we'll show you three effective methods to resolve this issue.

Method 1: Fix it with a few simple commands. Right-click on the Start button and select Windows PowerShell (Admin). Copy and paste the following commands into the PowerShell window:

net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution2024
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot22024
sc.exe config wuauserv start=auto
net start wuauserv
sc.exe config cryptsvc start=auto
net start cryptSvc
sc.exe config bits start=auto
net start bits
net start msiserver

The commands will execute automatically. Remember to hit Enter after the last command. Restart your computer, and your Windows Update service should be up and running without any issues.

The initial four commands are used to halt the operation of four services to ensure error-free renaming of two folders. These four services include:

1. Windows Update Service
2. Cryptographic Service
3. Background Intelligent Transfer Service
4. Windows Installer Service

Following this, the fifth and sixth commands are employed to rename two folders:

1. The Software Distribution folder, located in Drive C - Windows.
2. The catroot2 folder, situated in Drive C - Windows - System32.

The subsequent commands reconfigure the aforementioned four services to run automatically and then initiate their execution.

Method 2: Update using the Windows Update Assistant from Microsoft's official website. Search for "Windows 10 ISO" if you're using Windows 10 or "Windows 11 ISO" if you're using Windows 11. Click on "Update now," download the tool, run it, and restart your computer after the update. Your Windows Update service will be back in action.

Method 3: Update using a Windows ISO file. Search for "Windows 10 ISO" or "Windows 11 ISO." Click on "Download Media Creation Tool/Installation Media," download and run it. Choose "Create Installation Media" and click "Next." Select the ISO file option, save it on your computer or a USB drive. The download might take a while, as it's over 5 GB, but rest assured, it'll resolve your issue. Open the downloaded ISO file, right-click on the Setup file, and run it as an admin. You can keep all your files and apps, so you won't lose anything during the Windows Update process.
