In this practice, we explore Bhastrika pranayama, also known as bellows breath — a more energising and stimulating breathing technique.
Bhastrika involves active inhalations and exhalations and is traditionally used to increase vitality, awaken the body, and clear mental fog. This practice is best approached mindfully and with awareness of your own capacity.
Benefits of Bhastrika:
Increases energy and alertness
Improves circulation and lung capacity
Supports digestion and metabolism
Helps clear mental sluggishness
Can boost mood and motivation
Possible Challenges / Cons:
Can feel intense or activating
May increase heart rate and body temperature
Not suitable for everyone

High blood pressure or heart conditions
Pregnancy
History of stroke or epilepsy
Anxiety or panic disorders
Recent surgery or hernia
This practice is optional and empowering — always choose gentler breathing if activation feels too strong.
