Ludlow Castle was built between 1086 and 1094 by Roger De Lacy.
It is famous as the place where Arthur Tudor died, leaving his new wife, Catherine of Aragon, a widow, and his younger brother, Henry, heir to the throne.
However, Ludlow Castle has many secrets that aren't as well known.
A later addition in the Inner Baily of Ludlow Castle is the Chapel of Mary Magdalene. It is a very rare example of a circular chapel. This tends to indicate that this was a Knights Templar Chapel. It was probably built in the 1100s by Gilbert de Lacy, who joined the Templar order in 1158.
