I built my first strong and lasting forest shelter using mostly natural materials found in the woods. 🌲
I covered the roof with a tarp, added mud mixed with dry grass, and finished it with moss to blend into the forest. The wooden door is complete, gaps are sealed with moss, and wall spaces are filled with a mud-grass mixture for insulation.
Inside, I installed my prototype wood stove and lit it to dry the shelter and remove moisture. Its small size helped it warm up quickly and hold the heat very well.
Before sunset, I grilled a whole chicken, enjoyed the peaceful forest, collected firewood, prepared the interior for sleeping, made tea, and spent a warm, comfortable night. The next morning, I made Turkish coffee before leaving and said goodbye until the next visit.
Almost all materials used came from nature: wood, moss, mud, and grass. Only a few items like nails, screws, tarp, and metal supports were brought from outside.
This is my first handmade, durable shelter, and I plan to improve it even more on future visits.
