The Fulton Aerial recovery system for retrieving personnel from inaccessible areas is evaluated by the Special Air Warfare Centre's 1st Combat Applications Group at Hurlburt Field. Capt. N J Gough takes off which is accomplished with aid of a Fairchild C.123 'Provider' assault airlift aircraft and a 500ft. long piece of nylon webbing. A helium filled balloon is inflated and allowed to rise on the end of the nylon line. Free end of line is attached to a modified parachute harness sewn into overalls worn by Capt.Gough. A specially modified C.123 equipped with gathering apparatus mounted on the nose engages the nylon line just below the balloon. Line is locked into the aircraft. Man on ground is then pulled into the air and reeled into the aircraft. Various shots of tests in progress i.e., apparatus, balloon, nylon line, man pulled into air. After landing Capt.Gough is congratulated.
