So yeh this helped me with the feels of the finale, making a different version WHERE ARTHUR DOES NOT DIE! Yeh anyway story is Merlin uses magic in front of Arthur to protect him, and Arthur, torn up about it, banishes Merlin - he won't execute him. Merlin is angry and torn up that he has to leave his best friend and King, but when he see's a prophesy from inside a cave that is his makeshift home, he realises he must go back and save Arthur. Once saving Arthur's life, he flees, thinking Arthur may still be angry with him, but Arthur chases him and finally catches up. The two make up and Arthur fulfills his destiny as King with Merlin by his side.
