After days of rain, the sun finally returned — and so did the animals.
This week’s Virtual Safari is all about getting back out there, drying off, and letting the bush reveal itself again.
We start on foot with expert tracker Freddy, following a flowing stream in search of a leopard. No matter how good a leopard is at hiding, Freddy has a way of reading the bush — and before long, we found both the Shingi Male and the Nkoveni Female on foot in thick cover.
From there, the surprises kept coming:
🐢 The tiniest leopard tortoise I’ve ever seen — barely the size of my watch face
🦁 The Msuthlu Pride lounging on the Londolozi airstrip
🦁 The Gijima Males, who seem to have claimed the airstrip as their own
🐘 Elephants feeding on fresh green shoots, crossing right in front of us
And then… reality set in.
After all the rain and moisture, my camera gear finally cried enough — lenses misting up as the day warmed. A very real reminder that the bush doesn’t just test the animals… it tests the equipment too.
A relaxed, varied Virtual Safari with a bit of everything — from tracking on foot to lions, elephants, tiny surprises, and some honest behind-the-scenes moments.
